Hoboken, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team opened the 2013 Stevens Institute of Technology Invitational with a pair of losses, as BC fell 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-13) against New York University and 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 25-9) against Susquehanna University.
BC falls to 5-7 overall on the season, while NYU moves to 13-1 overall on the year and Susquehanna improves to 15-3 overall.
In the first game of the day against NYU, Yelizaveta Malysheva, Julia Bogdan and Francesca LoCascio all had two kills each, while Vera Zhuk finished with four assists. Lisenia Rodriguez chipped in with six digs.
NYU was led by Katie Robinson's match-best 10 kills. She also added 14 assists for the double-double. Emily Moore paced the offense with 17 assists, as NYU racked up 44 kills on a .378 hitting percentage. Josie Luck served up six aces, to go along with nine digs.
In the second game of the day against Susquehanna, Manon Bailly, Jillian Escobar and Malysheva all had two kills each. Malysheva also added five digs, while Zhuk dished out four assists.
For Susquehanna, Kady Faller finished the match with eight kills, while Maggie O'Hearn steered the offense with 30 assists, as the Crusaders posted a .543 hitting percentage with 42 kills. Sarah Paluck contributed with 11 digs.
The Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, September 28th, as Brooklyn will conclude the Stevens Invitational with matches against Farmingdale State College (11:00 am) and host Stevens (3:00 pm).
