Dmitry Prokofyev recorded his first career hat-trick on Saturday afternoon; however, it was not enough, as the Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 decision against the Bearcats of Baruch College in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match-up.
Brooklyn drops to 5-4 overall on the season and 2-1 in the CUNYAC; while Baruch improves to 4-5 overall on the year and remains unbeaten in conference play at 3-0.
The Bearcats took an early 2-0 lead with goals in the 15th minute from Oren Kozlowski assisted by Aaron Cueva and in the 30th minute from Victor Tlepshev assisted by Kozlowski.

Stamatis Boundouris received a red card, leaving the Bulldogs down a man for the rest of the match.
The Bulldogs would tally a goal before the halftime break, as Prokofyev headed in his first goal of the day in the 38th minute, with
Gabriel Narvaez assisting on the play, as Brooklyn would go into the half down 2-1.
The Bearcats would strike again in the 53rd minute, when Kevin Romero found the back of the net assisted by Tlepshev.
Down 3-1, the Bulldogs would chip away at its deficit and eventually tie the game at three all on back-to-back goals by Prokofyev.
Following a foul in the box, Prokofyev converted on a penalty kick opportunity in the 59th minute to make it 3-2 in favor of the visiting Bearcats.
Prokofyev would later tie the match at 3-3, as he took a long pass from
Mohamed Messiheddine, to beat the keeper, in the 72nd minute.
Baruch would eventually strike for the game-winner in the 87th minute, when Tlepshev and Kozlowski teamed up again, with Tlepshev knocking home his second goal of the game.
For the game, Brooklyn held a slim advantage in shots (25-23) and corner kicks (7-6). The match also featured a physical contest, as Baruch was whistled for 18 fouls and Brooklyn called for 15.
Boundouris played the first 29:45 in goal, allowing two goals and making three saves, while
Kamil Ostrowski finished the final 60:15, allowing two goals and making four saves. Baruch's Helder Correia played all 90 minutes in net, allowing three goals and making eight saves.
Brooklyn will return to the pitch on Monday, September 30th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Montclair, NJ to take on Montclair State University. The non-conference match is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
