Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Swimming team dropped its final City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) meet of the 2013-2014 season on Thursday night against the Hawks of Hunter College by a score of 117-67 at the West Quad Center.
With the loss, BC falls to 5-8 overall on the season and concludes the season with an even 3-3 in the CUNYAC. Hunter finishes the season with an 8-4 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in the conference.
Brooklyn will have one final tune-up before the CUNYAC Championships, as the Bulldogs will host the Panthers of the College at Old Westbury on Tuesday, January 28th. The meet is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time at the West Quad Center. BC will also be honoring its 10 seniors from the Men's and Women's teams as part of Senior Night celebrations.
Against the Hawks, the Bulldogs were paced by junior
Jenny Lee, who finished with two first place finishes and a third place finish. Lee was the first to touch the wall in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (12:39.24) and the 200-Yard IM (2:36.07). She finished third in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:14.95.
Senior
Valentina Monroy also recorded a first place finish with a time of 6:20.32 in the 500-Yard Freestyle, while adding a second place finish in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:13.01.
Other notable performances came from senior
Megan Pendergast (100-Yard Freestyle; 1:02.14) and sophomore
Rosalia Xue (200-Yard IM; 2:41.74, who registered second place and third place finishes, respectively.
