Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming teams had their final meet of the 2013-2014 season on Tuesday at the West Quad Center against the Panthers of the SUNY College at Old Westbury, as well as their final tune-up prior to the CUNYAC Championships later this week, and in grand fashion, both squads pulled out close victories as the Men edged the Panthers 101-99, while the Women took a 92-83 decision.
The BC Women conclude their regular season with a 6-8 overall record, while the BC Men finish the season with a 2-9 overall mark.
Prior to the start of the meet, head coach Sean Kellar honored his 10 departing seniors (

Valentina Monroy,
Nicole O'Brien,
Megan Pendergast,
Angela Redekop,
Jacqueline Szpunt,
Patricia Velloza,
Wilson Lee,
Richard Spence and
Seth Weiss) as part of Senior Night celebrations.
On the women's side, the quartet of Caravello,
Enlisa Ng Ou, Monroy and Pendergast began the night with a first place finish in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:12.18.
Pendergast took first place in both of her individual events, the 200 and 100-Yard Freestyles with times of 2:18.34 and 1:02.63, respectively, while O'Brien was the first to touch the wall in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (14:10.84).
Jenny Lee placed first in the 200-Yard IM (2:37.29) and second in the 100-Yard Backstroke (1:12.01).
Monroy (100-Yard Butterfly; 1:12.99) and Ng Ou (100-Yard Breaststroke; 1:18.76) both posted second place finishes.
On the men's side, Brooklyn swept the 200-Yard Freestyle, as
Elliott Weinberg (2:17.32),
Lenny Galindo (2:24.60) and
Shneur Fomin (2:42.69), took first, second and third place, respectively. Weinberg also added a second place finish in the 100-Yard Backstroke (1:16.15).
BC also took the top two spots in the 200-Yard IM, as
Maksym Soloninko (2:28.12) and
Kevin Barros (2:31.49) came in first and second place, respectively. Soloninko also posted second place finishes in the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:06.96) and the 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:11.73).
Other notable finishers came from
Ka Ho Yeung (1,000-Yard Freestyle; 13:22.47/500-Yard Freestyle; 6:21.41) and Weiss (50-Yard Freestyle; 26.69/100-Yard Freestyle; 58.90), who posted a pair of second place finishes.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Bulldogs at the CUNYAC Championships this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Lehman College in the Bronx. Thursday and Friday the action will begin at 1:00 pm with the diving portion of the championships, while on Saturday the day's events will start at 9:00 am.
