Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams split their City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) dual meet against the Lehman College Lightning on Saturday afternoon at the West Quad Center.
The BC Women were victorious 96-80, while the BC Men fell 129-83.
Leading the way for the BC Women were
Valentina Monroy,
Stephanie Caravello and
Jenny Lee.
Monroy took first place in both the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:13.91) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (6:20.87), while Caravello took first place in the 100-Yard Backstroke (1:14.91). Monroy and Caravello were also members of the 200-Yard Medley Relay, along with
Enlisa Ng Ou and
Megan Pendergast that took first place with a time of 2:11.66.
Lee took first place in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (13:07.21) and the 200-Yard IM (2:38.90).
On the Men's side,
Maksym Soloninko took home a first place showing in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.92. Soloninko also added a second place finish in the 200-Yard Freestyle (2:14.87).
The quartet of
Kevin Barros,
Anthony Siu,
Iskandarbek Yunusov and
Maged Mahmoud took home first place in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:48.10. Mahmoud also posted a second place finish in the 100-Yard Backstroke (1:14.22).
Other notable performers for BC included
Ka Ho Yeung (1,000-Yard Freestyle; 13:47.65),
Blake Bakal (50-Yard Freestyle; 27.14),
Sami Lerner (100-Yard Butterfly; 1:13.28) and
Elliott Weinberg (100-Yard Freestyle; 1:01.14), who all placed second in their respective events.
Brooklyn will be back in action on Monday, January 13th, as the Bulldogs will be on the road to take on the Baruch College Bearcats in another CUNYAC matchup. The meet is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time at the ARC Aquatic Arena.
