Box Score New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match on Wednesday afternoon against the Hawks of Hunter College, 2-1, at Randall's Island Field #70.
With the loss, BC falls to 3-8 overall on the season and an even 2-2 in the CUNYAC, while Hunter improves to 1-9 overall on the year and 1-2 in conference play.
The Hawks got on the board early with a goal from Brandon Fiscina in the third minute. Malik Ouro Agringna and Aristofanis Ioannidis each assisted on the score to put the home team ahead, 1-0.
Hunter could later capitalize on another scoring chance, as Bryan Suertegaray headed in the second goal of the game in the 19th minute off of a free kick from Fausto Perez, giving the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.
The score would remain 2-0 in favor of Hunter until the 86th minute, when Brooklyn's
Andres Pertuz found the back of the net for his first score of the season, becoming the seventh different Bulldog to score this year.
Just a few minutes later, with under a minute to play, BC would threaten for the equalizer to potentially force overtime on a shot from
Kenny Benitez in the 89th minute; however, Hunter's keeper, Zachary Metz was up the challenge making the game-clinching save to give the Hawks their first win of the season.
Metz finished the match with eight saves, while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
Ilya Keygen also played all 90 minutes, while recording six saves in the loss.
"We started off poorly today," said head coach
Rawle Hensford. "We lacked that extra bit of concentration and conceded two early goals. Pressing to get back into the game we failed to capitalize on our opportunities. Congratulations to Hunter. We will look to go back to the drawing board and return to our winning ways."
Brooklyn will look to snap is current three-game losing skid on Saturday, October 4th, as the Bulldogs will host borough rival Medgar Evers College in a CUNYAC matchup. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 pm start time at BC Field.
