Men’s & Women’s Swimming Teams Narrowly Fall at SUNY Old Westbury

Results

Old Westbury, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's & Women's Swimming teams were each edged out by the Panthers of SUNY College at Old Westbury on Tuesday evening. The Old Westbury Men won by a score of 99.5-97.5, while the Panther Women won 92-91.

On the men's side, Kevin Barros took first place in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:11.19. In what was the closest event of the night, BC's Daniel Posada and OW's Yalli Marcan tied for first place in the 50-Yard Freestyle as each swimmer finished in exactly 24.65, splitting points for the top spot. Maksym Soloninko also took home a first place finish, posting a top time of 2:31.37 in the 200-Yard IM.

The foursome of Soloninko, Tsewang Nyima, Posada and Jonathan Boyce took first place in the final event of the night, the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, with a time of 1:42.21.

Other notable performances came from Ka Ho Yeung (1,000-Yard Freestyle; 13:45.52/500-Yard Freestyle; 6:37.39), Anthony Siu (200-Yard IM; 2:43.45/100-Yard Breaststroke; 1:17.87), Soloninko (100-Yard Butterfly; 1:05.14), Posada (100-Yard Freestyle; 57.80) and Maged Mahmoud (100-Yard Backstroke; 1:12.32), who all took home second place finishes in their respective events. In the end, it would not be enough to propel the Bulldogs to victory, as Brooklyn would fall by just two points.

On the women's side, Brooklyn got off to a quick start taking first place in the opening event, the 200-Yard Medley Relay as the quartet of Bennett Collier, Enlisa Ng Ou, Rosalia Xue and Danielle Mollo-Siano posted a time of 2:18.82.

Xue (200-Yard IM; 2:46.85), Collier (100-Yard Butterfly; 1:23.85) and Ng Ou (100-Yard Breaststroke; 1:19.22) also took home first place finishes in their respective individual events.

Karina Graysenko had a solid showing, taking first place in the two long distance events, as she was the first to touch the wall in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (15:48.62) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (7:32.75).

Other notable performances came from Ng Ou (200-Yard Freestyle; 2:26.45), Mollo-Siano (50-Yard Freestyle; 30.31/100-Yard Freestyle; 1:12.36), Collier (200-Yard IM; 3:02.46), Eva Chan (100-Yard Backstroke; 1:26.20) and Xue (500-Yard Freestyle; 7:44.38), who all took home a second place finish in their respective events. In the end, it would not be enough to get a win for the Bulldogs, as BC would fall just short by a point.

The BC Women are back in action this Thursday, November 13th, as the Bulldogs will travel to John Jay College of Criminal Justice for Brooklyn's City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) opener. The meet is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time. Both teams will return to action on Monday, November 24th, as the teams will travel to York College for the Men's CUNYAC opener. That meet is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time.
