Men’s & Women’s Swimming Teams Conclude Season at Final Day of CUNYAC Championships

Results

Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming teams concluded the third and final day of the 2014 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championships on Saturday at the APEX Pool on the campus of Lehman College.

The Men finished in fourth place (out of five teams) with 549 total points, while the Women finished in fourth place (out of seven teams) with 452 total points.

The College of Staten Island won the Men's championship with 971 total points, while Baruch College won the Women's championship with 973 total points.

Day Three Recap

On the women's side, junior Jenny Lee posted a second place finish in the 1,650-Yard Freestyle with a time of 21:15.83. Classmate Enlisa Ng Ou registered a fourth place finish in the 200-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:51.86 and senior Valentina Monroy came in fifth place in the 200-Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:42.51.

On the men's side, junior Ka Ho Yeung finished the 1,650-Yard Freestyle with a time of 23:34.58, good for seventh place. Sophomore Elliott Weinberg came in seventh place in the 200-Yard Backstroke (2:41.95), while senior Seth Weiss recorded a seventh place finish in the 100-Yard Freestyle (59.20). Freshman Maksym Soloninko finished the 200-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:39.82, good for fifth place.

Day Two Recap

On the women's side, Valentina Monroy once again led the way with a third place finish in the 400-Yard IM with a time of 5:24.12. Jenny Lee posted a fourth place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 5:33.34. Lee also came in fourth place in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:09.57.

Other notable performances came from Megan Pendergast (200-Yard Freestyle / 2:19.09 / fifth place) and Enlisa Ng Ou (100-Yard Breaststroke / 1:19.61 / eighth place).

The foursome of Pendergast, Nicole O'Brien, Lee and Monroy recorded a third place finish in the 800-Yard Freestyle Relay.

On the men's side, Maksym Soloninko came in fourth place in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.43, while Kevin Barros finished in sixth place in the 400-Yard IM with a time of 5:46.10. Barros also came in sixth place in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:14.88. Elliott Weinberg (200-Yard Freestyle / 2:11.18 / fifth place) and Fong Zeng (100-Yard Butterfly / 1:11.20 / seventh place) both had strong performances as well.

Day One Recap

Highlighting the opening day of the championships for the BC Women was senior Valentina Monroy, who recorded a second place finish in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:04.38. Classmate Megan Pendergast also posted a strong showing in the 500-Yard Free with a time of 6:22.79, good for sixth place.

Brooklyn also had a pair of top-10 finishes in the 200-Yard IM, as junior Enlisa Ng Ou (2:39.20) and sophomore Rosalia Xue (2:41.21) registered an eighth place and ninth place finish, respectively.

On the Men's side, BC had three swimmers place in the top-10 in the 500-Yard Freestyle, as senior Brian Clarke (6:33.50), junior Ka Ho Yeung (6:36.16) and senior Wilson Lee (6:45.45), posted a sixth, eighth, and 10th place finish, respectively.

Sophomore Kevin Barros finished in eighth place in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:31.09, while senior Seth Weiss (26.88) and sophomore Blake Bakal (27.12) camed in eighth place and 10th place, respectively, in the 50-Yard Freestyle.
