Box Score

Staten Island, NY --- In a rematch of last year's City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championship final, the Brooklyn College Women's Tennis team fell to the Dolphins of The College of Staten Island on Thursday afternoon by a score of 7-2.

With the loss, BC falls to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in CUNYAC play, while CSI starts off its 2014 season at 1-0 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

Starting with doubles play, the Dolphins would take a 2-1 lead by taking wins at #2 and #3 doubles. The tandem of Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert and Madiha Mulla defeated the duo of Diana Beshta and Rosalia Xue, 8-3, at second doubles, while the team of Aziza Jurabaeva and Viktoriya Volkova got the better of Fatma Serageldin and Lauren Marino, 8-5, at third doubles.

Brooklyn's lone win in doubles would come from the pairing of Suraya Maenhout and Muriel Dervich that outlasted Nozima Toshpulatova and Michelle Kushnir, 9-8 (7-5), at #1 doubles.

CSI would use its momentum built from doubles into singles action, as the Dolphins took five out of the six flights to cruise to its 7-2 win.

The home team took the top two flights as Toshpulatova defeated Maenhout, 6-4, 7-5, at #1 singles, while Bragerton-Nasert defeated Dervich, 6-2, 6-1, at #2 singles.

Beshta gave Brooklyn its lone win in singles, defeating Jurabaeva, 6-0, 6-1, at #3 singles.

The Dolphins closed out the match with wins at #4, #5 and #6 singles, as Mulla defeated Xue, 6-2, 6-2, Kushnir defeated Serageldin, 6-2, 6-0, and Volkova outlasted Marino in a thrilling third set super tiebreaker, 6-1, 3-6, 10-6.

The Bulldogs return to action this Saturday, September 13th, as Brooklyn will travel to New Haven, CT to take on the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start time.
