Men's Soccer Falls In Home Opener To #20 Wheaton, 7-1

Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Team took their home field for the first time this season, however their opponent was possibly the toughest on the Bulldog's schedule, the #20th ranked Wheaton Thunder. The Thunder jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead, and won the contest 7-1, improving t0 4-2 overall, while Brooklyn fell to 1-5.

"We played a good Wheaton team today," said head coach Rawle Hensford.  "When we fail to minimize mistakes and work collectively, it is hard to have a good result against a strong team.  We will go back to the drawing board and learn from this game."

Wheaton dominated much of the play, outshooting Brooklyn 34-8.  Junior junior Stephen Golz led the Thunder, scoring two goals, including the first in the 7th minute on an outstanding individual effort.

Brooklyn's Ilya Keygen worked hard in goal to try and limit the Thunder scoring, as he came up with nine saves on the day.

On the Bulldog's lone goal of the day, Igor Pacca used his body to shield defenders, weaving by three Wheaton players and finding an open Marco Thimm-Kaiser, who was able to convert from about 15 yards out.

For Brooklyn, conference play will begin on Saturday, September 20th, when BC hosts John Jay.  The Bulldogs will hope that they're tough six-game, non-conference schedule to open the season will propel them to a great season in league play.
