Women’s Volleyball Drops Two at Vassar Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Poughkeepsie, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Labor Day , falling to host Vassar College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-10), and SUNY Cortland, 3-0 (25-1, 25-16, 25-14). The Bulldogs now stand at 1-4 overall on the young season.

In their first match of the day against Vassar, Brooklyn was led by the trio of Vera Zhuk, Anna Li and Francesca LoCascio. Crystal Wu set up the offense with seven assists, while Christolia Butler chipped in with six digs.

Vassar's Taylor Mosley recorded a match-best 10 kills, while Sophia Tiajoloff dished out 25 assists. As a team, Vassar hit .291 (39 kills/14 errors/86 total attacks). Calara Cardillo contributed with six kills and five aces, while Gabby Miller also added five aces as the team totaled 17 service aces in the match. Chloe Hallum was solid defensively with 18 digs.

In the second game of the day against SUNY Cortland, Li led the Bulldogs with seven kills, while Wu again paced the offense with 13 assists, to go along with seven digs.

For SUNY Cortland, Janine Patora finished with a match-high 12 kills, as the team hit a solid .378 (37 kills/nine errors/74 total attacks). The team also finished with 13 aces, led by six from Amanda May.  

Brooklyn returns to the court on Thursday, September 4th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Newark, NJ to take on Rutgers-Newark. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time.
