Men’s Soccer Uses Two Second Half Scores To Topple John Jay in CUNYAC Opener

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- A pair of second half goals helped propel the Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at BC Field in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) opener for both teams.

With the win, BC improves to 2-5 overall on the season and 1-0 in the CUNYAC, while John Jay falls to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The first half featured a defense stalemate as neither offense was able to get on the scoreboard.

The Bloodhounds would strike first, as Pablo Rojas sent a cross into the box that found Graysen Carlson, who was able to put the ball into the back of the net to put the visitors ahead, 1-0, in the in the 54th minute.

Looking for the equalizer, the Bulldogs would tie the game in the 65th minute, when Sirojiddin Shamsiev sent a long pass over to Igor Pacca, who was able to get past the John Jay defense and beat the keeper.

Just four minutes later in the 69th minute, Gabriel Isaksen, who came into the game as a substitute, would find himself in the right spot at the right time, as he took the ball off of a defender to slide the eventual game-winner past the Bloodhounds keeper.

The Bulldogs defense would make the 2-1 advantage hold up the rest of the way as Brooklyn would go on to earn the hard-fought, comeback win. 

Ilya Keygen played all 90 minutes in goal for BC, allowing just one goal and making two saves, while his counterpart, Andrew Berman also played all 90 minutes, allowing two scores, to go with three saves.

Brooklyn returns to action on Wednesday, September 24th, as the Bulldogs will host the Beavers of The City College of New York (CCNY) in another key conference matchup. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start time at BC Field.
