Isabelle Lalami scored a pair of goals in Brooklyn's 2-0 win over the Beavers of The City College of New York (CCNY) in a key City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island Field #91.
With the win, BC improves to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the CUNYAC, while CCNY falls to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The shutout win is also Brooklyn's third straight.
The first half saw the Bulldogs set the offensive tone, as BC outshot CCNY 15-8. Brooklyn had numerous scoring chances; however, the Beavers' Emily Ramos posted seven saves to keep the visitors off the scoreboard. CCNY had a few chances to score as well, but would be shutout by two key saves by the Bulldogs'
Rebecca Harmata.
Brooklyn would finally breakthrough in the second half when Lalami, who came into the game as a substitute, broke the scoreless tie in the 75th minute with her third goal of the season on a two-on-one breakaway goal with
Bergelie Louis assisting on the play.
Lalami would add her second score of the game, fourth of the season, in the 83rd minute when she scored off of a rebound with
Jordan Kerwin assisting.
For the game, Brooklyn outshot CCNY, 30-11, and also held the corner kick advantage, 6-3.
Harmata played all 90 minutes in goal for BC and finished the match with three saves to record the shutout. Ramos also played all 90 minutes in goal and registered 16 saves, while allowing two goals.
Brooklyn returns to action this Monday, September 29th, as the Bulldogs will host Fairleigh Dickinson University – College at Florham. The match is scheduled for a 6:30 pm start time at BC Field.
