Men’s Soccer Falls to Staten Island

Box Score Staten Island, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match on Saturday afternoon against the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island, 3-0.

With the loss, BC falls to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the CUNYAC, while the Dolphins improve to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

The first half featured a scoreless period as neither team was able to find the back of the net. Both teams had their respective scoring opportunities; however, each goalkeeper would have a pair of saves to keep the game at 0-0 heading into the half.

The Dolphins would set the offensive tone in the second half, as the home team outshot the visitors, 12-6, leading to three second half goals. Ilir Papraniku got CSI on the board with the first score of the day with Nicholas Bacarella and Daniel Tsygankov each assisting on the score.

Peter Hanna would add the second score of the game later on, while Bacarella capped of the scoring with the third and final goal with Alfonso Castaneda assisting.

John Gioeli played all 90 minutes in goal while recording five saves to register the shutout. Ilya Keygen also played all 90 minutes, while allowing three goals and making six saves.

Brooklyn returns to action on Monday, September 29th, as the Bulldogs will host the Red Hawks of Montclair State University. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time at BC Field.
