Women’s Soccer Falls to #10 Montclair State

Box Score Montclair, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Women's Soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against the Red Hawks of Montclair State University on Wednesday night at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-2 overall on the season, while Montclair State, currently ranked #10 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's National Poll, improves to 2-1 overall on the year.

The Red Hawks controlled the game from the opening whistle, outshooting the Bulldogs 12-0 in the first half. Montclair State would break through in the 14th minute when Jennie Hornstra sent a pass to Martina Landeka, who found the back of the net on a shot from 25 yards out.

The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the home team until the opening minutes of the second half, when Hornstra recorded her second assist of the game sending a through ball to Tyler Madison, who was able to beat the keeper to put the Red Hawks up 2-0.

Montclair State's stifling defense kept the Bulldogs offense in check all game long, as Brooklyn was unable to get a shot on goal.

Making her first career start, freshman goalkeeper Rebecca Harmata registered six saves in net, while playing all 90 minutes.

Brooklyn returns to action this weekend, as the Bulldogs will travel to Newark, NJ to take part in the Rutgers Newark Scarlet Raider Classic.
