The Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team fell just short on the road on Wednesday night, as the Bulldogs dropped an 81-78 decision against the Lightning of Lehman College at The APEX in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play.
With the loss, BC falls to 16-4 overall on the season and 8-3 in the CUNYAC; while Lehman improves to 13-7 overall on the year and 8-3 in conference action. The teams have split the regular season series with each school winning on their home court, as the Bulldogs defeated the Lightning, 91-72, earlier this season back on December 12th.

Jai Kellman led Brooklyn with a team-high 24 points. Juniors
Egzon Gjonbalaj and
Lorenzo Williams each recorded a doube-double, as Gjonbalaj finished the night with 19 points and 11 rebounds, to go with four blocks, while Williams ended the game with 12 points and 11 rebounds, to go with seven assists.
Lehman had four players score in double figures, including three starters. Jonathan Greenfield led all scorers with 26 points, while Olando Minott contributed with 18 points and nine rebounds. Chaun Miller registered a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Jerrome Jones also chipped in with a double-double coming off the bench with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The first half saw Brooklyn score the first four points of the game to eventually take an 11-3 lead early in the ballgame with 15:16 on the clock. The Bulldogs would go on take a nine-point advantage, 18-9, with 10:38 remaining in the half, before Lehman rattled off 10 straight points to erase its deficit and take its first lead of the game, 19-18, with 8:35 on the clock.
BC would answer with a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to go ahead by six, 25-19. Still trailing by six, 29-23, with 5:16 left before the halftime break, the Lightning would strike with a 9-0 run to go up by three, 32-29, with 2:17 on the clock. The home team would eventually take a four-point halftime lead, 38-34.
The second half saw both teams battle back and forth as the Lightning would hold onto its lead throughout the final 20 minutes. The Bulldogs tied the game twice in the second half, but would be unable to retake the lead as Lehman would keep Brooklyn at bay.
Brooklyn had a chance to force overtime in the final seconds of regulation; however, the potential game-tying three from Williams would not fall, as Lehman would take home the hard-fought win.
For the game, BC shot 43.7% (31-for-71) from the field, including 35.0% (7-for-20) from three. The Bulldogs also shot 60% (9-for-15) from the line.
Lehman shot 42.5% (34-for-80) from the field, including 35.7% (5-for-14) from beyond the arc. The Lightning also shot 57.1% (8-for-14) from the charity stripe.
Brooklyn returns to action on Friday, January 30th, as the Bulldogs will host the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island in another key CUNYAC matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 pm at the West Quad Center. BC will look to split the regular season series, as CSI defeated Brooklyn, 78-74, back on January 3rd at Staten Island.
