ResultsBronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams opened up the New Year at the Apex Aquatic Center against Lehman College on Wednesday in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action.
The Lightning would sweep the dual meet, as the BC Women were edged by of a score of 113-105 and the BC Men lost by a score of 126-94.
On the Women's side, Brooklyn started the meet off on a positive note, taking first place in the opening event, the 200-Yard Medley Relay, as the foursome of
Jenny Lee,
Enlisa Ng Ou,
Rosalia Xue and
Danielle Mollo-Siano posted a top time of 2:14.26.
Overall, the Bulldogs would take first place in nine of the 13 women's events, led by Lee and Ng Ou, who each took home a pair of first place finishes in their respective individual events.
Along with the 200-Yard Medley Relay, Brooklyn would take the top spot in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (Lee; 14:09.60), the 200-Yard Freestyle (
Eva Chan; 2:45.78), the 50-Yard Freestyle (Mollo-Siano; 30.46), the 200-Yard IM (Ng Ou; 2:39.42), the 100-Yard Butterfly (
Bennett Collier; 1:20.83), the 500-Yard Freestyle (Lee; 6:48.43) and 100-Yard Breaststroke (Ng Ou; 1:20.09).
BC would also take top honors in the final event of the night, the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, as the quartet of Collier, Xue, Mollo-Siano and
Nora Schreiber combined for a top time of 2:06.36.
The Lightning dominated the diving events, earning a total of 25 points between the 1 and 3 Meter Diving events, to propel the home team to its eight-point, 113-105, victory.
On the Men's side,
Kevin Leung had a brilliant performance in the diving events, taking first place in the 1 and 3 Meter Diving events, with scores of 210.38 and 237.30, respectively.
The Bulldogs would take first place in the final event of the night, the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, as the team of
Shokhrukh Nosirov,
Maksym Soloninko,
Umut Tanritanir and
Daniel Posada combined for a time of 1:42.32.
Notable performances came from
Ka Ho Yeung (1,000-Yard Freestyle; 13:45.60),
Kevin Barros (200-Yard Freestyle; 2:15.98), Nosirov (50-Yard Freestyle; 24.21 & 100-Yard Butterfly; 1:05.78), Posada (100-Yard Freestyle; 57.52),
Maged Mahmoud (100-Yard Backstroke) and Soloninko (100-Yard Breaststroke; 1:10.18), who all took home a second place finish in their respective events.
Brooklyn returns to action on Monday, January 12th, as the Bulldogs will host the Bearcats of Baruch College in another CUNYAC matchup. The double dual meet is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the West Quad Center Pool. Brooklyn will honor its graduating senior class prior to the start of the meet as part of Senior Night festivities.
