Men's Soccer Moves into Second Place with 3-2 Win Over John Jay

Box Score New York, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Team won their fourth straight on Wednesday, as they earned a big, 3-2 road win over John Jay.  The Bulldogs improve to 7-5-1, 4-4-1 CUNYAC while John Jay is currently at 5-9, 3-3 CUNYAC.

Early in the first half John Jay dominated play and scored on a goal by Abdul Malik Muftau at the 8:00 minute mark. After surviving several defensive miscues, the Bulldogs regrouped and responded with a second half onslaught that produced two goals in the first six minutes of the period.

Marco Thimm-Kaiser converted a penalty kick two minutes into the second half of play. Valentyn Kharko followed that effort with a strike of his own four minutes later. Kharko missed a golden opportunity to put Brooklyn College ahead 3-1 after a one on one opportunity with the John Jay goalkeeper, however the shot sailed over the crossbar.

The missed opportunity turned to be costly after Abdul Malik Muftau struck again for John Jay at 61:00 into the game.

Kharko found redemption at the 70th minute mark after taking a throw in and converting in the box after beating a defender in stealth fashion for the game winner.

The Bulldogs are looking to continue their fine form on Saturday October 17th in a critical conference game at Lehman. Kick-off is set for 11:00am on the Lehman College south field.
