Men's Soccer Falls To NYU on Senior Night; Shamsiev Honored as Lone Senior

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team faced New York University on Friday evening, as the team honored lone senior Sirojiddin Shamsiev in before the contest, before dropping the contest, 4-0. Despite this non-conference loss, it was a good test for the Bulldogs before they face Lehman College in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championship this Wednesday, October 28. Brooklyn finished season play with an overall record of 8-7-2, while NYU Men's Team improved to 5-10 overall.

Shamsiev was a two-year transfer from Kingsborough Community College, who unfortunately had his senior season cut short as he injured his knee against Hunter back in Septbember.

Brooklyn College outshot the Violets in the first half of the game, 11-7, but were unable to cash in on any of those opportunities. The Violets were on a mission, since they were on a four-game losing streak. They responded by finding the back of the net twice in the first half, and two more times in the second half. Brooklyn's keeper, Ilya Keygen managed to record 4 saves this game, while NYU's goalkeeper Lucas Doucette recorded his second shutout of the season.

Kickoff against the Lightening is scheduled for 4 pm. Although the Bulldogs have home field advantage, the match-up will be tough, for the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie earlier this season.
