Bulldogs Fall In CUNYAC Semifinal, 2-0 to CCNY

Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team's CUNYAC title hopes came to an abrupt end on Saturday as the #2 seeded Bulldogs fell 2-0 to the #3 seed, City College of New York.  Brooklyn falls to 9-8-2 overall, and will await a possible ECAC Metro Tournament postseason berth.

The Beavers got on the board first as Clifford Leriche came up from his defensive position to get a touch on a deflected ball in the middle of the box, putting City up 1-0.

Brooklyn could not convert on a couple of opportunities to equalize, and the score remained 1-0 at the break.

CCNY appeared to be the more energized team early in the second half, and after putting a couple of shots on goal, the Beavers got an insurance tally in the 60th minute from Mostafa Haridi, who took an Abdul Rashid Abdulai pass and got it by Brooklyn keeper Ilya Keygen.

That was all the scoring City would need, as Brooklyn put some pressure on the Beaver defense but could not put the ball in the net.

Valentyn Kharko led the Bulldogs with four shots, but the team's leading goal scorer could not convert on any of his opportunities on the evening.

CCNY will take on the #1 seed, Staten Island, in next Saturday's CUNYAC Final here at Brooklyn College Field, at 4:30 pm.
