Swimming & Diving Falls To CSI In First Conference Meet

Staten Island, NY --- The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams competed in a meet hosted by the College of Staten Island on Thursday, November 5.  The Women's team lost to CSI, totaling 49 points, while the Men's team fell short by 70 points. Both Bulldogs squads dropped to 0-1 in CUNYAC, while the Dolphins' men and women improved to 1-0 in the conference.

For the women, Karina Gaysenko, Danielle Mollo-Siano, Valerie Vassilieva and Nora Schrieber had strong performances in the 200 yard freestyle relay, outswimming the Dolphins, touching the wall in 2:01.08. Freshman Valerie Vassilieva placed second in the women's 50 yard freestyle race.

Hugo Meza had a strong showing for the Bulldogs, placing first in the men's 100 yard butterfly, finishing the race in1:04.32. Meza also placed third in the mixed 200 yard butterfly event. Patrick Limage led the Bulldogs in the men's 100 yard backstroke, finishing first with a time of 1:01.78. Kevin Leung took second in the men's 50 yard freestyle race.

The men's and women's teams return to competition Tuesday evening, November 10 at 6:00 to face the College of Old Westbury.
