Box Score Union, NJ----Despite a 32-point effort put forth by junior forward, Olivia Colbert, the BC women's basketball team dropped their season opener at Kean University this afternoon, 83-66.  The Bulldogs will have a day to regroup before opening at home on Tuesday, November 17 against non-conference opponent, Purchase College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM at the West Quad Center. 
 
All began well for the Bulldogs as they started the game with a 6-0 run.  Kean would not get themselves on the board until 7:30 remaining in the first period. 
 
Trailing for a third of the first period, the home team scored on fast-break to take their first lead of the game (11-10) with 3:35 left in the first. 
 
Trailing by four points, BC's freshman Alexandra Jacques knocked down a jumper to cut Kean's lead to 16-14 as time expired in the first period. 
 
Trailing 19-14, Colbert would take matters into her own hands, scoring six straight points, giving the Bulldogs a 20-19 lead with 5:41 left in the first half.  She would continue to dominate the competition in the next minute and a half, scoring four more straight points, helping the Bulldogs to a 24-20 lead. 
 
The Bulldogs extended their lead to as many as seven points in the second period.  However, the Cougars battled back behind the hot shooting of Jacquetta Owens who finished with 30 points.  Kean took a 36-33 halftime lead.
 
Kean maintained a one to two possession lead through the first five and a half minutes of the second half, before BC's Taylor Gallagher laid the ball in for the 48-47 Brooklyn lead. 
 
The Cougars countered with a 7-0 run helping them to a 59-53 lead as time ran out in the third. 
 
BC battled back in the first two minutes of the final period, cutting the Kean lead to 59-58. 
 
A 14-0 Kean run from 7:41 to 4:22 left in the game, secured the win for the 2-0 Cougars. 
 
Colbert added 10 rebounds and three steals to her 32 points.
