New York, NY--- The Brooklyn College men's basketball team's season opening win-streak increased to five this evening with a 75-64 victory over CCNY (2-2) in the Bulldogs' CUNYAC opener. BC is 5-0 overall with the victory. The Bulldogs will be back on the road in non-conference action at SUNY Old Westbury on Monday, November 30th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
With all five starters scoring in double-figures, the Bulldogs kept a comfortable lead throughout the game. BC led by as many as many 20 points at the 11:42 and 8:41 marks respectively in the second half.
CCNY would cut the BC lead to ten with 2:40 remaining in the game. However, senior forward
Lorenzo Williams scored four straight points to put the game completely out of reach for the Beavers.
The Bulldogs grabbed their first double-digit lead relatively early in the contest with 14:34 left in the first half. CCNY cut the lead to nine on a couple of occasions during the first half, but the Bulldogs would answer and take a 34-23 halftime lead.
Senior guard
Jamel Gist led all scorers with 19 points including 2-4 from three-point range. He would also grab five rebounds in 29 minutes of action.
Lorenzo Williams added fifteen points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds. Senior guard
Egzon Gjonbalaj continued to show his versatility finishing with ten points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
The two teams will meet again on January 20th on Brooklyn's campus at the West Quad Center.
