Box ScorePurchase, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's tennis team lost a tough match to Purchase on Tuesday evening, falling to the Panthers, 6-3. With the win, Purchase improves to 4-1, while BC falls to 1-4 on the year.
At #1 singles
Suraya Maenhout defeated Emma Yavel of Purchase 6-3, 6-2. Erica Fulton of Purchase defeated Diane Beshta in a tightly played match 6-4, 6-4 at #2. Caroline Halderman of purchase defeated
Lauren Marino 6-1, 6-1 at #3 singles. Roula Zyada of Purchase took the fourth singles match from Anastasia Volvik of Brooklyn 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Fatma Sarageldin salvaged the second victory in singles action for Brooklyn, coming from a set down to overtake Maggie Lavin of Purchase 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles action
Suraya Maenhout and
Diana Beshta were victorious over Emma Yavel and Erika Fulton in #1 doubles 8-5.
In the #2 doubles match, Caroline Halderman and Catherine Pasquale defeated
Lauren Marino and Anastasia Volvik of Brooklyn 8-2. The Panthers also took the final doubles match with Nastaja Stepec and Maggie Lavin defeating Fatma Sarageldin and
Ashley Rivera 8-0.
While dropping the match, Coach
Michael Phillips seemed upbeat about his team's play, saying, "We almost pulled off the win. We are getting better overall."
The Women are in action again on Wednesday September 30th in Newark, NJ to face Rutgers Newark 5pm start time.
