Bulldogs Fall in Home Opener To Scarlet Raiders, 1-0

Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Bulldogs began their 2015 season and quest to three-peat as CUNYAC champs on Wednesday as they opened the year by dropping a non-conference affair to Rutgers Newark, 1-0, at Brooklyn College Field.

The Scarlet Raiders struck for the game's only goal late in the first period, as Juliana Ceballos connected on a goal from the middle of the box after receiving the cross off a corner kick from Nicole Gomez.

While Rutgers was able to dominate much of the possession and attempted 29 shots to Brooklyn's two, BC hung within a goal for the remainder, largely in part to the play of All-Conference defender Jasmine Fermin and goalie Rebecca Harmata, who recorded 13 saves.

Brooklyn will remain at home on Saturday as they take on Montclair State in another non-league game. The Red Hawks were a power a season ago, and off to a 1-1 start to their 2015 campaign.
