Women's Tennis Starts Season With 9-0 Win Over John Jay

Fresh Meadows, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis Team took the court for the first time in 2015, under newly appointed head coach Michael Phillips, and blanked conference opponent John Jay, 9-0.  The win gives the Bulldogs a 1-0 record both overall in the conference, while the Bloodhounds fall to 0-1, 0-1.

The win was Phillips' first career win as a college head coach.

The Bulldogs entire lineup was impressive in the debut.  Incoming transfer, and #1 singles player, Ievgeniia Kostenko, teamed with returning senior Suraya Maenhout for an 8-3 doubles win, before Kostenko had an impressive 6-3, 6-2 victory in singles play. Maenhout also swept at singles, as she won 6-1, 6-1 while playing in the number two flight.

Brooklyn will be home on Thursday to take on the defending CUNYAC Champs, Staten Island.
