Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bulldogs Fall to Staten Island in Final Moments

Staten Island, NY---After a wild turn of events at the Staten Island free throw line, the Brooklyn men's basketball team retained possession at half court trailing 80-81 with a chance to win the game with a basket.  However, following a miscommunication on the initial inbound, the Bulldogs would retain possession again under their own basket after going out of bounds off of a Dolphin player with just under two seconds to go in the game.  The Bulldogs did get off a shot, which fell short.

The Bulldogs drop to 16-4 overall with the loss and 9-3 in the CUNYAC; CSI improves to 15-5 and 8-3 in the conference.  Brooklyn will return home on Tuesday to host York on Alumni Night.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 PM following the women's game, which is slated for 5:00 PM.

Trailing 81-78, BC senior guard Egzon Gjonbalaj drove the lane for a one-handed dunk to cut the Dolphin lead to one with 1:10 left in the game.  After exchanging missed jumpers, things got very interesting for the next 20 seconds.  The Dolphins would pick up three offensive rebounds after missing the front-end of one-and-one free throw situations.  They would then go on to miss two more in a row, which the Bulldogs were finally able to retain possession from setting up their final touches of the game.

The Bulldogs came back from being down by as many as 17 points almost six minutes into the second half.

Back-to-back three-point makes by senior forward Pajtim Gjonbalaj gave the Bulldogs one-point leads at the 3:27 and 2:55 marks in the second half.

The Dolphins grabbed a 5-3 lead in the first 1:08 in the game and led through the entire first half, taking a 48-36 halftime lead.

Senior forward Lorenzo Williams led all scorers with 27 points including 3-6 from beyond the arc.  Egzon Gjonbalaj finished with 21 points and 18 rebounds for the game's only double-double.  Senior guard Dillon Williams contributed ten points and five rebounds off of the bench.

Four Dolphins reached double figures in scoring including the conference's leading scorer Will Fonseca who led CSI with 23 points.
