Men's Soccer Ends Season in CUNYAC Quarterfinal Loss at CSI, 3-1

Staten Island, NY---The  No. 5 seed Brooklyn College men's soccer team had their season cut short this afternoon at No. 4 College of Staten Island this afternoon, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round of the CUNYAC Championships.  Brooklyn closes out the season with a 7-10-2 overall record, entering the playoffs with a 4-2-2 regular season CUNYAC record.  CSI will advance to the CUNYAC semifinals at Brooklyn College Field on Saturday where they will take on No. 1 seed Lehman whom the Bulldogs tied 1-1 during the regular season.

It would be the home team who struck first this afternoon in the 16' of the match on a free kick that made the bottom corner of the goal.  The Bulldogs responded in the 29' on heads play by junior middie Jordy Ortiz who recovered a soft header by a CSI back and snuck it past the Dolphins goalie just in front of the goal.

The Dolphins scored the match winner just before halftime in the 42' off of a rebound.  CSI scored the insurance goal in the 66' on a header from a cross.

CSI was not shy when it came to shooting this afternoon, unloading for 27 shots to the Bulldogs' six.

Freshman goalie Jerron Streete ended a strong rookie campaign with nine saves for the match.
