Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Cruise to Victories at York

Jamaica, NY---The Brooklyn College men's and women's swimming and diving teams cruised to 141-34 and 132-42 wins respectively tonight.  The Brooklyn women improve to 2-1 overall and in the CUNYAC with the victory.  Brooklyn's men picked up their first win of the season tonight as they improve to 1-1 overall as well as in the CUNYAC with the victory.  Both teams will be back in action at home to take on St. Joseph's College Brooklyn in their first non-conference dual meet of the season on December 6.  Events are scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm. 

Women's Recap
  • The Bulldogs would go on to win every event with the exception of one the entire meet. 
  • York would finish in first in the 800 yard freestyle final.
  • Last week's CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Angella Christopher continued to impress winning the 200 meter freestyle final by more than a 1:30.  
  • Freshman Maryia Shaban finished first in the 50 yard freestyle final.
  • Brooklyn ended the meet with a strong finish, winning the 200 yard freestyle relay final by 18 seconds. 
Men's Recap
  • Brooklyn would have a First Place finisher in every final tonight.
  • Sophomore Hugo Meza would finish in the 800 yard freestyle with a time of 10:41.90.
  • The Bulldogs had a photo finish in the 50 yard freestyle final with senior Kevin Leung just edging out freshman Peter Khimitch for First Place.
  • Brooklyn closed out the meet with a convincing win in the 200 yard freestyle relay final.
