Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team used a big first half, outscoring visiting Hunter, 35-14, on their way to a 64-53 win at West Quad.
The Bulldogs, who had 10 players get in the scoring column, improve to 3-0 and 1-0 in CUNYAC play, while the Hawks snap their three-game winning streak and fall to 3-2, 0-1.
The Bulldogs held Hunter to 23% shooting from the field, and more impressively stifled the Hawks in the first half, holding them to 4-26 shooting over the first 20 minutes. Â Hunter did manage 22-29 from the free throw line, keeping them somewhat close. Â
Brooklyn was on fire in the first half, shooting 7-13 from beyond the arc, including made threes from five different Bulldogs,
Twanda Holder,
Justine Vento,
Kailyn Richburg,
Alexandra Moogan and
Taylor Gallagher.
Brooklyn led 53-32 after the end of the third quarter, but the Hawks actually outscored the Bulldogs 21-11 in the 4th, cutting the final deficit to 11.
Maya Ajee-Thomas and
Twanda Holder both scored 11 for Brooklyn to lead the squad. Ajee-Thomas also added eight boards and two blocks. Brooklyn got 26 points from their bench, including eight from senior
Taylor Gallagher.
Theresa Leung led the Hawks with 11 points.
Brooklyn will be back in action on Thursday as they take on NYU, also undefeated, in a non-conference game at Hunter College, beginning at 7 pm..Â
