Bulldogs Head Into Postseason With 73-58 Win At Baruch

New York, NY---Limiting Baruch to a 27.1% shooting night from the floor, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team heads into the postseason on a high note, defeating the Bearcats 73-58.  BC ends the regular season with an overall record of 19-6 and 11-5 in the CUNYAC.  The Bearcats close with a 13-2 overall record and 9-7 in the conference.  BC solidified the #3 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Championships.  The Bulldogs will host the winner of Hunter and York this Saturday, February 20.

Trailing 7-2 in the first five minutes of the contest, the Bulldogs would go on an 11-0 run in the next 3:15 that gave them a six-point lead.  BC never trailed again.  

A defensive battle throughout, following an Egzon Gjonbalaj made jumper with 2:02 remaining in the first half, neither team managed another point.  The Bulldogs went into halftime with 23-19 advantage.  

The Bulldogs broke the game wide open in the opening minutes of the second half, scoring the first 12 points.  BC's run included a couple of made three-point field goals by seniors Dillon Williams and Denis Balsam.  

Baruch did not go down easily, cutting the Bulldog lead to 46-40 with 8:28 left in regulation.  However, two Dillon Williams three-point makes later, the Bulldogs would find themselves back up 12 and in control to close out the contest.  

BC led by as many as 17 points in the final minutes of the game.  

Four of the Bulldogs' five starters reached double-figures in scoring.

Senior guard Egzon Gjonbalaj led all scorers with 20 points.  He also grabbed 14 rebounds.  Senior forward Lorenzo Williams dropped in 17 points.  Senior guard Jamel Gist finished with 16 points including a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe.  Senior guard Dillon Williams rounded up the group with 15 points including three makes from behind the arc.
