Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Brooklyn Wins on Senior Night, Gist Joins 1K Point Club

Brooklyn, NY---Two points shy of scoring his 1,000th point as a Brooklyn Bulldog, senior guard Jamel Gist made Senior Night extra special, accomplishing the feat on the first field goal of the game.  Gist reached 1,000 points in only three seasons at Brooklyn.  The Bulldogs did not disappoint an enthusiastic BC crowd, holding off a pesky Hunter team, 103-96.  BC improves to 17-5 overall with the victory and 10-4 in the CUNYAC.  The Hawks drop to 3-20 and 3-11 in the conference.  The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Brooklyn.  Tip-off for the non-conference game is scheduled for 7:00 PM in Clinton Hill.

The Bulldog seniors came out on fire to start the game, knocking down four three pointers in the first two and half minutes of the contest.  BC hit 14 three-pointers in the game including a lights-out 11-13 in the first half.

A Jamel Gist "trey" with :24 left in the opening period would give the Bulldogs their largest lead of the first half, 61-46, which remained as the halftime score.

The Hawks responded in the first six minutes of the second half, cutting the BC down to 71-65.  However, the Bulldogs regained that same momentum they opened the game with, extended their lead to 81-65 with a little over ten minutes to play in the game.

Hunter would still not go away, coming within four points of the Bulldogs with 4:39 to go in the contest.

Up six points with just under two minutes remaining in the game, senior guard Egzon Gjonbalaj put the nail in the coffin with a three-point field goal for the Bulldogs.

Gjonbalaj finished the game with a game-high 31 points and 15 rebounds.  Senior forward Lorenzo Williams finished with 30 points including 6-9 from beyond the arc.  Gist ended his night with 17 points and six assists.  Senior guard Nick Grasso found teammates for seven assists on the evening.
