Men's Volleyball Falls to Hunter in CUNYAC Quarterfinals, 3-0, Closing Out 2016 Season

New York, NY---The Brooklyn College men's volleyball team ended the 2016 season last night falling at Hunter, 3-0, last night in the CUNYAC Championships quarterfinals.  The #7-seeded Bulldogs end the season with an 8-21 overall record including a 5-11 mark in conference play.  #2-seeded Hunter improves to 22-9 overall and will advance to CUNYAC Championships semifinal against John Jay at Baruch on Friday.

The host team and 2015 CUNYAC runnner-up rolled to a 25-9 win in the opening set to take a 1-0 lead.

Hunter picked up where they left off to start the second set, jumping out to 5-0 lead.  A Rudy Zhao kill cut the Hawk lead to 6-2.  However, Hunter would counter with a string of points every time BC scored, closing the second set out, 25-10.

The Bulldogs showed resilience in the third set, playing the Hawks closely through the first 13 points, trailing the host school 7-6.  Hunter would then score six straight, creating a hole that the Bulldogs couldn't climb out of.  The Hawks closed out the match with a 25-17 victory in the third set.

Sophomore middle hitter Rudy Zhao led the Bulldogs with seven kills.  Defensively, he also led BC with four digs.  Freshman outside hitter, Vaughn Titus, closed out strong rookie campaign with four kills in the postseason meeting.

The Bulldogs made vast improvements from last season, winning seven more contests including four more CUNYAC matches in 2016.
