Women's Soccer Shuts Out Maranatha Baptist, 3-0, For First Win of Season

Box Score Whitewater, WI---It would be three goals all scored by Bulldog rookies that would propel the BC women's soccer team to their first victory of the season, defeating Maranatha Baptist, 3-0, at Wiscon-Whitewater this evening.  The Bulldogs move to 1-3 with the victory.  Brooklyn will open conference play at home on Wednesday, September 14th, hosting John Jay.  Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm at BC Field.  

Junior forward transfer, Cansu Usta, scored the game winning goal in the 18th minute on header assisted by senior midfielder Jordan Kerwin.  Kerwin recorded her second assist on the evening, connecting with freshman Victoria Ramirez in the 57th minute.  Freshman midfielder Anna Curran added an unassisted insurance goal in the 87th minute.  

The Bulldogs controlled the match from the opening kick, outshooting MBU 18-6, including 7-2 on shots on goal.  

Senior goalie Samantha Rodriguez recorded the first shutout of her college soccer career finishing the match with two saves.
