Bronx, NY---Despite valiant efforts put out by both teams, both the Brooklyn women's and men's swimming and diving teams were edged 113-97 and 128-107 at Lehman College in a CUNYAC regular season finale. The Brooklyn women drop to 2-9 overall and 2-4 in conference meets for the regular season; the BC move to 3-5 and 1-3. Both teams will have a week to prepare for the CUNYAC Championships beginning on Friday, February 3rd, and running through the weekend at Lehman College.
The Brooklyn women started the meet on the right foot, winning the 200 yard medley relay. However, the Lightning would go on to finish first in the next six events of the meet. Sophomore
Valerie Vassilieva snapped the streak by finishing first in the 100 yard freestyle final. She would go on to also finish first in the 500 yard freestyle final. Brooklyn closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay final.
Brooklyn's men had a similar evening where they won a few battles but weren't able to pull out the war. BC began the meet with a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Senior captain Umut Tanritanir picked up the Bulldogs' first individual win of the evening for the men's team in the 200 yard freestyle final.
Kevin Leung was the Bulldogs' next first place finish of the evening in the 50 yard freestyle final.
Vincent Xue was the Bulldogs' third first place finisher of the night in the 200 yard IM final. The Brooklyn men also closed out the meet with a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay final.
