Brooklyn, NY---Paced by 17 second quarter points scored by senior guard
Taylor Gallagher, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team returned home in a big way, rolling to a 79-34 victory over Buffalo State this afternoon. The Bulldogs improve to 7-2 with the non-conference victory while the Bengals drop to 4-7 overall on the season. Brooklyn will be back on their home court tomorrow to host Medgar Evers in a CUNYAC doubleheader. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
With the game tied 9-9 after the opening period, the Bulldogs outscored the Bengals 33-9 in the second period thanks in part to Gallagher's five three point makes in the period. In addition, the Bulldogs' full-court pressure started to get to the Bengals as they turned the ball over on the in-bound multiple times leading to BC buckets. Brooklyn would head into halftime with a 42-18 advantage.
Brooklyn continued to pour it on in after the break. Sparked by a made three-pointer by sophomore
Alexandra Moogan, the Bulldogs would go on a 10-0 run. Senior guard
Tiffany Ruiz also joined the three-point make club during the run.
The Bulldogs cruised for the remaining of the game, leading by as many as 51 points in the final period.
Brooklyn forced 35 Bengal turnovers to their 12. The Bulldogs also controlled the offensive boards, out-rebounding the Bengals 21-12.
Gallagher finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-11 from the floor including 5-7 from downtown. Senior forward
Olivia Colbert picked up her second double-double of the season finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Junior point guard
Karen Mak also reached double-figures in scoring with 10 points. She also came up with a game-high six steals on the afternoon.
