Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team dropped a conference match-up with CCNY at home this evening, 79-55. Brooklyn moves to 4-17 overall and 2-10 in CUNYAC with the loss; CCNY improved to 11-9 and 9-4. The Bulldogs will be on the road in conference play on Thursday at Baruch. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 pm.
Trailing by 20 points early in the second half, the Bulldogs cut the Beaver lead to as few as nine points after an
Enees Nikovic make from the perimeter. Unfortunately, that is as close as BC would get as CCNY outscored the Bulldogs 19-9 in the final ten minutes of the game. The Beavers would lead by as many as 25 points late in the game.
A slow start hurt the Bulldogs with CCNY jumping out to 7-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game. After scoring their first bucket just under four minutes into the game, the Bulldogs were able to cut the CCNY lead to 11-9 after an
Austin Wood lay-in with 13:18 remaining in the first half. CCNY responded with a 10-0 run with 8:28 to go in the first twnety minutes. CCNY extended their lead to as many 20 points in the first half. Wood's lay-in in the final seconds of the half cut the Beaver halftime lead to 41-23.
The Beavers shot just under 50.0% (49.2%) as a team from the floor on the evening to BC's 30.2%. Brooklyn was not able to connect from beyond the arc in the first half, shooting 0-4. Brooklyn did bounce back in the second half to shoot 5-11 from three.
Brooklyn was led by
Austin Wood's team-high 17 points. Junior guard
Maynard Grant IV was the Bulldogs' other double-digit scorer finishing with ten points.
