Men's Basketball Tops York, 68-59, to Solidify Spot in Postseason

Brooklyn, NY---With a spot in the upcoming CUNYAC conference tournament on the line, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team rose to the occasion, defeating York on the road tonight, 68-59.  Brooklyn closes out the regular season with a 6-19 overall mark including 4-12 in CUNYAC.  York ends the season with a 2-22 overall record and 2-14 in CUNYAC.  The Bulldogs head into the CUNYAC Championships as the No. 7 seed and will travel to the No. 6 seed in the opening round on Friday, February 17.  The complete tournament schedule and seedings will be officially announced shortly.

A back-and-forth battle throughout, senior guard guard Chris McIllhatton knocked down a clutch three-point goal with 2:38 left in the game to give the Bulldogs the lead for good.  McIllhatton finished with 11 points including three makes from behind the arc.

Freshman guard MIchael Tesoriero helped seal the deal for the Bulldogs with four straight makes from the charity stripe with just over two minutes to play.  Brooklyn closed out the game shooting 5-6 from the free throw line to finish the contest with their largest lead of the game.

Trailing by as many as seven points in the first eleven seconds of the second half, the Bulldogs took their first lead since the 1:29 mark in the first half following an Enees Nikovic dunk with 13:41 remaining in the game.  After exchanging buckets, senior guard Austin Wood knocked down a three that gave BC a 52-47 advantage with 11:37 left in the game.  York cut the BC lead to a point in the next couple of minutes until junior guard Niv Konfino's knock-down from three-point range put the Bulldogs back up by four with 7:40 to go. York would retake the lead by two with 3:34 remaining in the second half, prior to a Konfino free-throw make and McIllhatton's back-breaking three.

Brooklyn would overcome an 11-point Cardinal lead early in the first half to only trail by four points at halftime.

Konfino led the Bulldogs with 17 points and ten rebounds for the team's lone double-double.  He also dished out a game-high five assists.  Nikovic chipped 14 points and grabbed seven boards in the win.  Junior guard Maynard Grant IV also reached double-figures in scoring with 12 points.

Brooklyn shot 12-16 from the foul line to York's 4-6 for the game.

The Cardinals were led by Larry Moore's 21 points and 11 rebounds.
