ECAC Quartfinal Pittsburgh, PA---The Brooklyn College women's basketball team's season came to an this afternoon as they fell in the ECAC Quarterfinal Round at host, Carnegie Mellon, 84-59. Brooklyn closes out the regular season with their sixth 20-plus win season in a row with a final record of 22-7. It was also the Bulldogs' sixth postseason tournament appearance in row. Carnegie Mellon improves to 19-7 with the victory and will play in the ECAC semifinal tomorrow.
The home team Tartans continued their offensive efficiency this afternoon, shooting 49.2% from the field for the game to BC's 30.8% despite shooting fewer shots. Carnegie Mellon also shot 40.0% (6-15) from beyond the arc and 84.2% (16-19) from the charity stripe.
With the game tied 5-5 in the first five minutes of action, the Tartans would go on an 11-0 run to take an 18-7 lead with 1:41 left in the opening period, and head into the second with a 12-point advantage. Carnegie Mellon extended their lead to as many as 17 points in the first four minutes of the second period before Brooklyn senior guard
Taylor Gallagher knocked down a three to stop the bleeding with 5:51 to go in the first half. Junior guard
Karen Mak would make a jumper to cut the Tartan lead to as few as 11 points with 4:05 to go in the first half. However, the Tartans countered for the 42-28 halftime lead.
Mak opened the second half with a made three on the Bulldogs' first possession to cut the Carnegie Mellon lead back down to 11. The Tartans responded with a 10-2 run including two makes from beyond the arc for a 19-point advantage with 6:13 remaining in the third period. Carnegie Mellon continued to roll in the third period, jumping out to a 67-41 lead heading into the fourth where they would fend off any BC comeback to close out the postseason contest.
The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Tartans on the offensive boards 14-10 for the game.

Karen Mak, last year's ECAC Metro/Upstate Tournament MVP, closed out another strong ECAC Tournament finishing with a team-high 16 points, five rebounds, and game-high five steals this afternoon. Sophomore guard
Lauren D'Agostino was the Bulldogs' other double-digit scorer finishing with ten points including three makes from behind the arc on the afternoon.
Carnegie Mellons' Jostens Trophy candidate and back-to-back University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year, Lisa Murphy, led all scorers with 24 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
