Women's Tennis Picks Up Huge Conference Win Against Baruch, 7-2

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College women's tennis team picked up their first conference win this afternoon in a big way, defeating CUNYAC preseason favorite, Baruch College, 7-2.  Brooklyn improves to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the victory. Baruch dropped their first match of the season today. It is the first time the Bulldogs have defeated the Bearcats in three seasons. BC will be back at it tomorrow at home in non-conference action against the College of New Rochelle.

-Brooklyn would take a 2-1 lead following doubles play, winning 8-2 at the No. 1 flight (Kostenko and Aksanov) and at the No. 3 flight (Solano and Serageldin)
-The Bulldogs would go on to win at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. 
-Senior Fatma Serageldin clinched the match with her 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 slot. 
-Senior Julia Mekler started singles off with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6. 
-Junior Ievgeniia Kostenko knocked off preseason CUNYAC Player of the Year Isabel Arias 6-3, 6-1 in No. 1 singles.
