Gurung Scores Game-Winner in Final Minutes to Boost Women's Soccer Over Cairn, 2-1

Brooklyn, NY---A grind to the final minutes of regulation, BC senior midfielder, Sangam Gurung would flick home the game-winner in the 86th minute to help the Brooklyn College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Cairn University this evening.  Brooklyn improves to 2-4 on their second win in a row in their home opener. Cairn drops to 1-4 overall on the season. 

Proud of the way his team stuck together after Cairn took  1-0 halftime lead, Head Coach, Patrick Horne would comment, "I told the team at halftime that we were right there and to keep working, that eventually they would get their opportunity.  Keri's game-tying goal gave us the momentum we needed."  He would go on to add, "They never gave up and stuck together, and Sangam's late goal was the result." 

Match Notes

-Cairn would get on the board first in the 40th minute of match to take a 1-0 halftime lead.
-BC Junior forward Keri Kenna tied the match in the 67th minute on penetration through the middle and assist from senior forward Cansu Usta. It was Kenna's fourth goal of the season and Usta's fourth helper. 
-With 3:30 remaining in the match, senior back Gabrielle Naquila would give a touch pass to Gurung who flicked it from ten yards out, rolling just beneath the Carin goalie's finger tips. 
-The Bulldogs were the busier team offensively, outshooting the Highlanders 13-6 including 9-2 on shots on goal. 
-Freshman keeper Dajanna Pena improved to 2-2 on the season finishing with a save in all ninety minutes of action.
