Women's Tennis Falls to John Jay in Conference Opener, 5-4

Queens, NY---After pulling out their season opener, 5-4, on Tuesday against Farmingdale State, the BC women's tennis team was edged, 5-4, in their conference opener at John Jay this afternoon.  BC is now 1-1 to start the season.  The Bulldogs return home on Saturday to host Kean University in their second non-conference match of the season.

Match Notes

-John Jay jumped out to a 3-0 lead winning all three doubles matches. 
-The Bulldogs battled back in singles winning at the No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 slots. However, the Bloodhounds clinched the match with wins in No. 2 and No.4 singles. 
-The match was decided before No.1 singles ended.  Junior Ievgeniia Kostenko would win the superset match 8-1.
