Women's Swimming and Diving Puts Out Valiant Effort But Falls to John Jay in Home Opener

Brooklyn, NY---Despite a lot of positives from tonight's home opening meet, the Brooklyn College women's swimming and diving team fell in its first CUNYAC meet of the season to John Jay, 110-84.  The Bulldogs drop to 0-3 in dual meets so far this season while the Bloodhounds improved to 2-1 for their second victory in a row.  Brooklyn remains home on December 5 to host Purchase College with the men's team at 6:00 pm.

Semona Bardman was Brooklyn's first First-Place finisher of the evening with a time of 14:59.71 in the 1000 yard freestyle final.  BC's Melanie Deringer won the 200 yard IM in convincing fashion with a time of 2:50.29.  Bardman dominated the distance events for the evening, finishing first in the 500 yard freestyle final with a time of 7:26.96.  Emily Yang helped Brooklyn to nine points with a First-Place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke final.

The Bloodhounds took advantage with more Second-Place finishes than Brooklyn for the evening.  They also picked up 22 points for their First-Place finishes in the 200 medley relay to start the meet and the 200 yard freestyle relay to close out the conference meet.
