Brooklyn, NY---After winning the first set, the No. 4 seeded Brooklyn College men's volleyball team dropped the next three sets to No. 5 seed Lehman College, falling to the Lightning, 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-14), in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championships at the West Quad Center tonight. The Bulldogs end the season with a 13-10 overall record. Lehman advances to the tournament semifinals against No. 1 seeded Hunter College on Friday.
By the Set
-Trailing the Lightning, 16-15, the Bulldogs rallied for five straight scores to take a 20-16 in the first set. Lehman chipped away at the lead but the Bulldogs closed out the first set with a kill put away by senior middle hitter,
Moaz Ali Choudhary.
-The Bulldogs would find themselves playing catch-up the entire second set after the Lightning opened the set with two straight scores. Already leading 22-20, the Lightning put the set out of reach of BC with two straight scores.
-With Lehman already leading 18-16 in the third set, the Lightning rattled off four more points in a row to take a commanding 22-16 advantage.
- Tied 9-9 in the fourth set, Lehman rolled for seven straight scores. Th Bulldogs weren't able to recover from the LC rally, eventually eliminated from conference tourney play, 25-14.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Junior outside hitter, Vaughn Titus finished with a team-high 11 kills. Sophomore middle hitter finished the match with 10 kills.
-Sophomore outside hitter Gabriel Pjatak and Choudhary finished the match with three blocks a piece.
Leading the Lightning
-Yaw Eshun had a match-high 20 kills. Filipe Velandia added 17 kills.
-George Montilla finished with a match-high 45 assists.
