Staten Island, NY---The Brooklyn College men's tennis team dropped its first conference match of the season on the road this afternoon at the College of Staten Island, 7-2, to move to 1-1 in CUNYAC. Brooklyn drops to 2-3 overall. The Bulldogs continue conference play tomorrow, 4/10, against York College at home at 4:00 pm.
After the Dolphins took all three doubles matches on the day, the Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins at the top two spots in singles. Freshman Justin Vasquez defeated CSI's Ray Hwang 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Fellow freshman, Rohan Mathur, continued his strong rookie season with a 6-1, 6-0 win over the Dolphins' Andrew Adia. However, the Dolphins' rolled to convincing victories in the No. 3 through No. 6 slots in singles.
Vasquez and Mathur came close to victory in No. 1 doubles but were edged by CSI's Adia and Alex Tsui, 9-7.
