Swimming and Diving Falls to CSI on Senior Night

Brooklyn, NY---In their final home meet of the regular season, both the Brooklyn College women's and men's swimming and diving teams dropped conference decisions to the College of Staten Island.  The women were outlasted 116-73 while the men were neck and neck with the Dolphins all evening but were eventually edged 108-107.  Both teams will take the trip to California to take on the University of La Verne next Wednesday. Brooklyn senior, Thomas Wong, was recognized on Senior Night during the meet.  

Women's Highlights

-Freshman Emily Yang won the 200 freestyle final with a time of 2:21.00. she also won the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:34.27 and closed out her meet with a first place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.05.  
-Junior Melanie Deringer won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.45.

Men's Highlights

-Freshman Dorian Zaremba started the men off individually with a first place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:05.08. He would go on to win the 500 yard freestyle as well later on in the meet with a time of 5:53.48. 
-Sophomore Omar Hasan-Hafez had a pair of first place finishes on the evening.  First, he would win the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.45.  He went on to win the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.68.  
-The lone senior, Wong, won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.60 just beating out CSI's Michael Stora with a time of 1:02.69.
