No. 4 Bulldogs Outlasted by No. 1 Wilkes in ECAC Quarterfinal

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's basketball team closed out the 2018-19 Season this evening, falling to Wilkes University, 69-59, in the First Round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship tournament.  BC ends the year with a 15-13 overall, more than doubling its win total from last season and qualifying for a postseason tournament for the first time in three seasons.  Wilkes improves to 19-9 with the win and advances to tournament's quarterfinals at Hood College.

How It Happened

-With the Bulldogs leading 35-34 with 15:26 left in the contest, Wilkes would go on a 14-0 run over a four minute span to take the lead for good.  The Colonels would go on to lead by as many as 20 points in the second half.  Brooklyn did make its patented late run, cutting the Wilkes lead to as few as six points with 1:00 to play, but the Colonels survived the push by converting on four free-throws after defensive stops.
-After falling behind 4-0 in the first 1:30 of the game, the Bulldogs started to find their rhythm beginning with an 10-0 run.  Wilkes would tie the game, 10-10, but BC junior guard Anthony McClean would go an individual 11-0 run of his own to give Booklyn its largest lead of the game, 21-10, with 7:56 to go in the first half.  The Colonels responded late in the half to cut Brooklyn's lead to 27-26 at halftime.
-Wilkes held Brooklyn to 28.7% shooting from the floor for the game while shooting 39.3% including 44.83% in the second half.
-The Colonels also outscored Brooklyn 20-10 on second-chances.
-Four Wilkes starters reached double-figures in scoring.
