NCAA REGIONAL Manchester, CT---A historic year came to an end this afternoon for the Brooklyn College women's tennis team with the Bulldogs falling to No. 16 Skidmore College, 5-0, in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.  Brooklyn closes out the season with a 16-4 overall record, the most wins in program history, and the program's first CUNYAC title and NCAA Tournament bid.  Skidmore moves to 14-6 with the victory and will take on Brandeis University in the Second Round tomorrow, May 11, at Wesleyan University. 

"It has been a great run," third-year Brooklyn Head Coach, David Wallis would comment after the postseason exit.  "Skidmore was the sharper team today and made us pay for our errors.  With that, it was still a great experience against a high-caliber program and wrapped up a memorable season."

The Thoroughbreds jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles.  BC's No. 1 pair of two-time CUNYAC Player of the Year, Ievgeniia Kostenko, and First Team CUNYAC All-Star, Tamila Latif-Zade, won the Bulldogs' only game in doubles against Skidmore's Risa Fukushige and Renee Karchere-Sun.  Brooklyn was shutout in both No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

Kostenko gave Brooklyn life by winning the first game at the top flight in singles.  However, her oppoenent, Fukushige, won the next six games to take the first set.  Their match would go unfinished.

Skidmore's Lily Feldman defeated BC's Georgeen Belrose 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles position to take a 4-0 team lead.  The Thoroughbreds clinched the First Round victory at No. 5 singles with Skidmore's Audrey SooHoo defeating the Bulldogs' Shannel Johnson 6-0, 6-0.
