Brooklyn Outlasts Hunter, 65-55, for Second Straight Win

New York, NY---In a defensive battle throughout, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team made a late run to defeat Hunter College 65-55 tonight for their second straight victory in only three days.  Brooklyn improves to 3-7 overall and 2-0 in CUNYAC with the win while Hunter drops to 1-11 and 1-3 in conference play.  The Bulldogs will look to keep their streak going at home on Wednesday, January 8, as they host Lehman College in a conference doubleheader with a 7:15 pm tip-off following the women's game.  

Game Summary
-Trailing by as many as nine points (33-24) early in the second half, the Bulldogs 16-7 run to cut Hawks' lead to 40-39 following a lay-up finished by senior forward, David Melman, with 8:39 left in regulation.  Following a Hunter free-throw make, the Bulldogs made their run sparked by a three-point make buried by senior guard Anthony McClean giving Brooklyn their first lead since the halfway point of the first period.  The Bulldogs continued to build on their lead from that point on.  BC would lead by as many as 12 points with :39 remaining in the game.  
-With the home team leading the Bulldogs 18-11, Brooklyn went on a 7-0 run sparked by a lay-in finished by junior guard Kayin Olajide with 11:33 left in the first half.  A three-point make splashed by senior guard, Joshua Bennett cut the Hawks' lead to 17-16 before made jumper shot by junior guard, Nico Serrano, helped BC retake the lead with 10:01 left in the first half.  Hunter would respond with an 11-2 run thanks to three consecutive George Keener three-point makes.  
-Brooklyn senior guard, Orri Cohen, went on a 4-0 run of his own to cut Hunter's halftime lead to 28-24.  
-The Bulldogs shot 41.38% from the field in the second half while holding Hunter to 34.78%.  BC shot 11-24 from beyond the arc to Hunter's 6-19 for the game.  
-Brooklyn's bench continues to impress as it outscored the Hawk reserves 24-8 on the night.  

Leading the Bulldogs
-Senior guard, Michael Tesoriero, led the way with 13 points, nine assists, five rebounds, and six steals. Tesoriero aslo shot 3-4 from behind the arc for the game. 
-Cohen added 13 points in 14 minutes off of the bench.  
-Senior guard, Jordan Wright, chipped in nine points, connecting on a pair of shots from beyond the arc.  

Leading the Hawks
-George Keener scored a game-high 24 points while shooting 5-10 from three-point land. He also grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double. 
-Jonah Bevacqua also had a double-double finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
