New York, NY---Snapping a five match skid, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team picked up a sweep at Yeshiva University, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21). BC moves to 5-8 overall with the win while the Macs drop to 2-4 with the loss. The Bulldogs will have a little over a week to prepare for their conference opener at home against York College on March 3 at 7pm.
How It Happened
- Trailing 10-5 to start the match, the Bulldogs rallied for seven straight scores for a 12-10 advantage. With the scored tied at 18, the Bulldogs scored three straight points capped by an Omar Rezika service to take the lead for good and close out the first game.
- Brooklyn jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the second game thanks in part to a kill and a pair of service aces put away by junior outside hitter, Jasper Diangco. Brooklyn closed out the game with a three-point rally that included another Diangco service ace.
- Falling behind 14-9 in the third, rallied for six straight scores capped by a kill hit by sophomore middle hitter, David Li. Yeshiva made a late run to cut BC's lead to 22-21 before Brooklyn completed the sweep with a three-point rally.Diangco ended the match with a service ace following a Rezika kill.
- Brooklyn finished with 12 service aces to the Macs' seven for the match. Yeshiva had eight setting errors to Brooklyn's four.
Leading the Bulldogs
- Sophomore setter, Brian Fok, finished with a team-high seven kills while hitting .235.
- Senior setter, Michael Valentin, had a match-high 22 assists.
- Li finished with three blocks to go along with five kills.
- Diangco finished with a team-high four service aces.
